At St. John Neumann, our counselor helps students find success in their academic path and prepare for meaningful careers in the field of their choice, one day at a time. Our guidance counselor meets with students several times to discuss post-secondary planning. We offer FAFSA nights and financial aid planning assistance. Our staff works to prepare our students with strategies and techniques for the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT), the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT), the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB), and Advanced Placement exams.
At St. John Neumann Regional Academy, approximately 92% of our seniors pursue a college education. One hundred percent of those that apply are accepted. We want our students to leave our school confident, empowered, and trusting in God's guidance on their next big step. The Diocese of Scranton has signed Memorandums of Understanding with King's College, the University of Scranton, Misericordia University and Marywood University to offer graduates of St. John Neumann High School guaranteed admission and lucrative annual scholarships. King's College is a Catholic institution of higher education animated and guided by the Congregation of Holy Cross. King's pursues excellence in teaching, learning, and scholarship through a rigorous core curriculum, major programs across the liberal arts and sciences, nationally accredited professional programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and personal attention to student formation in a nurturing community. King's College and Diocese of Scranton High Schools hereby establish a Memorandum of Understanding.
Through this memorandum, we articulate and codify the ways this partnership can advance our mutual goal of enhancing access to high quality education at the post- secondary level. The components of our partnership include, but are not limited to:

Marywood University and Diocese of Scranton Memorandum of Understanding
Marywood University, sponsored by the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, roots itself in the Catholic intellectual tradition, the principles of justice, and the belief that education empowers people. The University integrates an enduring liberal arts tradition and professional disciplines to create a comprehensive learning experience.
Marywood University will guarantee admission and a four year renewable scholarship to graduates of Scranton Diocesan high schools who enroll as freshmen at Marywood University. The student must have a 3.00 GPA and either 1080 SAT or a 21 ACT composite. Students who meet the above GPA requirement will have the option of applying to Marywood University as test optional applicants. Students who wish to major in Communication Sciences and Disorders must have achieved a 3.25 GPA and 1120 SAT to be guaranteed admission; students who apply as a test optional applicant to this program should contact Marywood Admissions for more information.
Students who meet the GPA requirements of 3.00 will receive, at minimum, a $16,00 four year award with a total value of $64,000; with merit scholarships ranging up to $23,000 per year, for a total value of $92,00 per year, depending on the academic profile of the applicant. The student maintain an appropriate, pre-determined GPA based on the value of the scholarship in order to renew annually. Since the award is in support of undergraduate education, it can be received for a maximum of eight semesters, or until the student has achieved the baccalaureate degree. The student must be enrolled on a full-time basis. The Diocese of Scranton Scholarship is not transferrable to other institutions.

Saint Joseph's University and Diocese of Scranton Memorandum of Understanding
Saint Joseph's University and the Diocese of Scranton high schools, Holy Cross High School, Holy Redeemer High School, Notre Dame Jr./Sr. High School and St. John Neumann Jr./Sr. High School a common mission to educate young men and women in the Catholic tradition through rigorous academics and a focus on holistic learning. Saint Joseph's University will guarantee admission and a four year renewable scholarship to graduates who meet the following requirements cumulative weighted GPA of 3.75 or higher on a 4.0 scale. Lock Haven University Dual Enrollment Program:
St. John Neumann Regional Academy is in a Dual Enrollment Program with Lock Haven University. The program allows our high school students to earn college credits. Most of Lock Haven University’s general education courses and some introductory level major courses are available. Upon successfully completing coursework, the student will earn college credits that will be applied to their LHU transcript. If the student decides to attend college elsewhere, LHU credits can be transferred.
Lycoming College Non-Degree Program:
St. John Neumann Regional Academy juniors and seniors can participate in Lycoming College's Non-Degree Program in which they may take general education courses and will receive college credit upon successful completion.
Penn College NOW:
This is a dual enrollment program that grants exceptional students the oportunity to earn Pennsylvania College of Technology credits during the school day. This program allows juniors and seniors to participate in a curriculum that stresses independent work and intense engagement that is more demanding and broader in scope than the traditional curriculum. Interested students should contact Mrs. McPherson with any questions or to enroll.
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the most important financial aid document the student and parent(s) will file as part of the financial aid process. The FAFSA is a federal form used by families requesting financial aid to determine eligibility for many types of need-based financial assistance.
