Choir 

Students in 3rd grade and higher are given the opportunity to participate in choir. Singers are very important to the school liturgical practices, as the choir will help lead mass throughout the school year. In addition, our choir students prepare a few selections for our Christmas and Spring concerts, as well as Christmas caroling to area Elder care facilities.

Interscholastic Reading Competition

Students compete by reading given books and answering questions.

KNEX Club

Construction and STREAM activities; in 2025 the team won 1st place at the local level competition.

Music 

VIOLIN

Students in 3rd grade and higher are given the opportunity to select the violin as an instrument to learn outside of the regular music classroom. Lessons are given in a group setting based upon level of abilitiy as they develop into the Middle and High School.

 

BAND

Students in 4th grade and higher are given the opportunity to select the Trumpet, Trombone, Flute, or Clarinet as an instrument to learn outside of the regular music classroom. Other band instruments are permitted on a case by case basis. Lessons are given in a group setting based upon instrument and level of abilities, and all students have one time per week when all Band instrumentalists practice together at either the Elementary or Middle/ High School campuses.

 

DRUMLINE

Students in 5th grade and higher are given the opportunity to learn to play the drums with our Drums instructor, Marc Garside from Epic Percussion. Students in this group will perform a few times throughout the school year at school functions.

 

GUITAR, PIANO & ORGAN

Students are taught guitar and piano during classroom instruction starting in middle school grades. Those who show additional skills or have taken lessons outside of school on these instruments are encouraged to continue progressing at SJNRA through participation in our school mass activities.

 

Our most advanced instrumentalists are given the opportunity to play their instrument during our school mass at some point during the year. SJNRA has historically been a part of Pennsylvania Music Educators' Association events, and our students in the upper grades may be eligible to be featured in music groups outside of school such as these.
